Thank You for Sharing

It’s hard to argue the fact that packaging and labelling of products have a profound impact on the buying behaviour of consumers. In many cases, seeing a product in a store may be the point where people first become aware of many of the products they buy.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

On the way to Tofino this summer, my girlfriend and I stopped in Ucluelet. Like many quaint tourist towns, there were several shops stocked with a broad range of relatively inexpensive gifts and take-home items. Often, these stores are crammed to the gills with as many items as possible.

On this day, what caught my eye at one store was a prominent display rack of bright coloured knee-high socks in a vast array of patterns and designs. Since I needed a birthday gift for a good friend of mine, I was happy to discover these socks.

It wasn’t until I brought them home that I took the time to read the label. The message on the back was friendly and inviting: “Thanks For Sharing Your Feet With Us”. This gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling, plus it motivated me to flip over the socks to read the front label. Much to my amusement, the company’s name was quirky and relevant: “SOCK it to me”.

Want to tell me about a product you think has great packaging?
