Get Real With Yourself

Do you ever feel like the work pile is growing and it’s difficult to stay on top of everything?

I do. Usually, when this happens, I pull back long enough to get my personal and business houses in order so I can move forward with more ease. I have to admit, as someone who likes to keep busy and do the work I love to do, this is not an easy task for me.

Last September, I came back from a speaking tour and ended up in the hospital due to difficulties with motor skills on the left side of my body. I remember heading to a play to meet a friend with my partner. Over the course of the evening they said; “That’s it. We are taking you to emergency.”

As it turns out, I had inflammation of the brain and needed several intensive treatments over the course of three days to resolve the issue. Fortunately, I had a full and speedy recovery. Although I am still feeling the effects of what happened, I am grateful to able to walk normally and use my left hand as I could before.

This was a wakeup call for me. I’m sure many of you have experienced a setback either in your personal life or your health that has deeply affected you.
Dealing with unexpected personal or health issues can be shocking. I remind myself daily what Eckhart Tolle says: “Life will give you whatever experiences are most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness.”

This experience has reaffirmed what I value the most. I value my time, my loved ones and family, doing what I love, and being of service to others in my areas of expertise.

How can you take what you value most and apply that to be the best person you can for yourself and your business?
