Locking Up Customer Engagement
I find visiting other cities in Canada a very inspiring experience. The way each city markets itself and makes resources accessible to the public can be very interesting to see.
While in Montreal in early September, I noticed a different street parking system than Vancouver. While I have seem similar systems to Montreal in other major cities, the one difference I see in the city is the way bike lockups are made readily available for cyclists. As a cyclist myself, I have used parking meters as a place to lock up my bike although it can be a tricky process. In Montreal, the meter (or rather, the post with the parking stall number on it) has a bicycle icon and a ring to hook a lock through. There is easily enough space for two bikes to be locked to this post.
Is this an invitation to like the city of Montreal more? As a cyclist, I would definitely say yes. This is true customer engagement.
What can you do differently than others in your industry to engage your client or customers more?
