One of the simplest ways to market to others is to make them feel good.
Sending a thank you card, flowers or taking someone to lunch are great ways to give back to those that have helped you in some way. They may have passed along a referral that generated new business or have given you advice which invariably led to securing a new client contract. When we acknowledge and express appreciation to others, not only do they feel good, so do we.This type of marketing comes from the heart.
Last week I attended an important sales meeting where I was outlining how working with my company would benefit this client-to-be. The meeting was a big challenge for me and up until now, I do not know the final outcome.
What I do know is how critical following up with the decision maker(s) is. That night after returning home from the meeting, despite feeling exhausted, I sat down and wrote personalized note cards to each of the management team. The note cards acknowledged each individual’s contribution to the meeting and told him/her how I was looking forward to working with them.
Believe it or not, even though following up sounds like a simple thing to do, how many people take the time to express their appreciation to others in a very special way?
What steps can you take to acknowledge those who have helped move your business forward or those who will soon be contributing to growing your bottom line?
