Postal Strike Advantage

For those of you who use direct mail as a marketing method to promote your business, it must be very frustrating to deal with the postal strike. If you planned to mail something out to prospects or customers during the month of June, the work stoppage certainly put a kibosh in your game plan.

If you are like me, you may be checking your mailbox every day, hopeful that something will arrive. I know that my father did not receive his Father’s Day card so he will eventually have something to look forward to in the mail other than bills!

Today, I came home from a meeting and discovered something poking out of my mailbox. In that moment, I felt very hopeful. It happened to be a flier with a gift certificate for $5 off at a new sushi and grill restaurant called Volcano Sushi & Grill. Attached to the coupon was a full-colour brochure. I thought this was a very smart strategy. Normally, we are often inundated with promotional fliers in the mailbox but, when we go without any fliers for more than a week, something and anything in the mailbox will catch our eye.

All of a sudden, this flier had my attention. There was nothing competing with it. Now, that’s impact.

What is your strategy to stand out from the crowd and make an impact?

  1. Jen,

    How’s it going today?

You should have taken your father’s day card to The UPS Store.

We shipped a bazillion of them the week leading up to Father’s Day.

    1. Good point Danny. There are certainly other options for people and sometimes we need to be reminded of this. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. UPS has lots of great business and personal solutions for people.
