Use PR in Quiet Times
Cashing in on quiet times – make downtime pay; organize your media list
Reading the business section of the paper got you down? Times of economic turmoil can be especially hard on small and medium business owners. At Anita Webster Communications we believe in using quiet times to kick up your public relations.
In a previous post (Jen, can we link to it here – the first one last month?) we talked about starting your target media list by polling your customers and contacts and keeping track of who has been reporting on your competitors.
Now’s a great time to get this list in order. Make it ready-to-use.
Put names of media people in categories by how you’ll approach them. If they cover new business ideas, give that a category and file the names there. You could have other categories for reporters who do weekend stories or for those who write profiles of business owners. Many will fall under several categories.
Your list is a powerful tool. Use downtime to get it well organized from the start and keep it that way!
