Quick Entrance and Exit = Happy Customers
I have to admit I stay away from malls as much as possible these days until I really need to do a shopping spree for gifts or new clothes.
In December, I was at Brentwood Mall in Burnaby, B.C. This mall is smaller in size which makes it more appealing. When I pulled into my preferred parking area, which is often as far away from any traffic congestion as possible, it meant just a short walk to the mall entrance.
One my way there, the parking spots closest to the doors were specially marked with signs. There was one in a light blue colour that indicated “Grandparents Parking” and another in yellow that indicated “Parents Parking”. The caveat for these signs were that they applied only when accompanied by a child under five years of age.
I thought this was wonderfully simple and brilliant. The marketing department at Brentwood Mall has found a way to make specific customers who tend to frequent their mall very happy, particularly if those customers are dealing with extra equipment such as strollers and baby bags. The idea of including grandparents is also incredibly relevant and important.
