The Boathouse Commitment
When my parents were visiting Vancouver, we decided to go to the Boathouse Restaurant at English Bay in the West End. It is a popular hotspot for those who love fresh fish and want the best view of the ocean.
The service we had was the best I have experienced at a restaurant in many years. Not only did our server, accommodate my Dad’s special request for a switch in his vegetable choice, she also surprised both my parents with their own slice of mocha ice cream birthday cake – with sparklers, no less. This was on her own initiative when I told her we were celebrating both my parents’ birthdays. Although those are semantics, what made this young woman unique was her ability to know when swing by at the right time to attend to our needs.
The other aspect of the Boathouse I appreciated was their clear understanding of their own culture. I could see the smooth continuity between the drink menu, the food menu, the environment and the service. Those who work for the Boathouse and their customers understand the essence of their culture based on their dining experience.
Here’s the Boathouse Commitment which they have done a great job to ensure a premier experience for all of those who come in contact with their brand:
• LOCAL — Only the best from B.C. waters, farms and vineyards
• FRESH — We use fresh when available, but search for the best quality always
• SUSTAINABLE — Committed to Oceanwise principles and a financial supporter of the Pacific Salmon Foundation
• SIMPLE — No gimmicks, just straight ahead preparation of quality ingredients
• RESPECT — For your health. No trans-fat cooking and an eye on nutrition and allergies
• COMMUNITY — Involved with the neighbourhoods we live in and serve
• PEOPLE — We invest in our people, providing skills & experience to the young people in our communities
